A resident of Virginia Beach all his life. He was a celebrated athlete at Bayside High School where in 1980 he was drafted by the Seattle Mariner Professional Baseball Organization in the 12th round. He was awarded a full baseball scholarship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a starting pitcher. Upon completing his college career, Brian was drafted again by the Cincinnati Reds Organization but decided to end his baseball career and enter in the Mortgage Industry.
